There are many people, including industry professionals, who believe that laser and IPL are one and the same. This is not correct and the difference in treatment comfort and effectiveness can be quite significant.

The key difference is that laser is a single wavelength of light whereas IPL is broadband light with UV filtered out. Because of this laser is highly targeted to just one chomophore (colour pigment or structure) in the skin and performs a very specific treatment.

The specificity of laser means that treatments are generally more comfortable and you require less treatments to achieve permanent hair reduction. And because the laser is highly targeted at one chromophore there is less risk to the surrounding tissue.
