| Facials & Peels | What is Micro-Dermabrasion? |
|||||
Micro-Dermabrasion a non surgical aesthetic procedure that exfoliates the surface of the skin. By removing the outer layers of the skin which are older, drier and in most cases dead, younger skin cells are revealed. This makes the skin look newer, fresher and "younger". The appearance change is immediate and although the treatment is sometimes accompanied by minor, temporary reddening of the skin this will usually abate within a few hours, meaning that in most cases the treatment can be performed with relatively little or no downtime and is a perfect "lunchtime treatment" for busy clients who want excellent, visible but above all quick results. What are the benefits of Micro-Dermabrasion?Aside from what we have covered above in relation to removing dead, dull outer layers of the skin to expose younger, fresher, healthier looking skin there are a number of benefits to Micro-Dermabrasion.
By receiving a series of treatments the results are improved and longer lasting with a visible reduction of fine lines and wrinkles being one of the most obvious long term results, accompanied of course by younger, fresher, healthier looking skin. Applications of Microdermabrasion Although traditionally used exclusively on the face and neck area microdermabrasion has proven itself effective all over the body, in particular on the backs of hands where the skin is usually thicker and rougher due to the rough and tumble our hands experience in day to day life. Microdermbrasion works very well to help remove these outer unnatractive layers of skin especially around the joints. This allows moisturisers and other creams to be absorbed more readily resulting in smoother, younger looking hands. Microdermabasion works to remove these buildups over the follicle and in doing so increase the cellular turnover in the skin resulting in a smoother, more even appearance. Maintenance treatments will be required in most cases. "Tea Stain" like sunspots are also effectively treated with a course of microdermbrasion with the spot either being reduced in size and colour or removed completely. |
